Guidelines for Reviewers
Navigation
Introduction
We acknowledge the contribution of scholars who give their time and expertise to take part in the peer review of submitted manuscripts. Rigorous peer review remains a central element of academic publishing, supporting the quality and consistency of the journal. It provides a structured process of evaluation through which submissions are assessed prior to publication, allowing for possible revisions, clarification of arguments, and adjustments to meet academic standards.
All manuscripts are evaluated by at least two independent experts, following a double-blind peer review policy, ensuring that both authors’ and reviewers’ identities are protected throughout the process.
Eligibility and Expertise
Reviewers are expected to meet the following standards:
- Hold a PhD or equivalent degree.
- Maintain an official and recognised academic affiliation.
- Possess relevant expertise and a demonstrable publication record in the manuscript’s subject area.
- Maintain independence by avoiding conflicts of interest with the authors, being from a different institution, and not having co-published with the authors within the past three years.
Reviewer Responsibilities
- Accept or decline invitations promptly after considering the manuscript title and abstract.
- Evaluate manuscripts impartially and confidentially.
- Provide constructive, professional feedback that helps authors improve their work.
- Submit reviews within the requested timeframe.
- Declare any potential conflicts of interest.
- Suggest alternative reviewers if declining an invitation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding manuscript content until publication.
- Avoid revealing their identity to the authors in comments, annotations, or metadata in any submitted files.
